long weekend away in Mooloolaba, on the sunshine coast, QLD was nice. David got to do the diving he wanted and i just walked a lot.
I've had a bit of a cold /sore thoat thing so it meant my right ears played up on the flight up, and was really quite in pain on landing in Maroochydore didn't really clear properly.
also as i got off the plane i could barely move :\ not sure how or why but my back was in much pain as well like I pulled a muscle or something (how does that even happen sitting in a plane for 2 hours?)
I spent most the weekend walking around Mooloolabah anyway, as i determined not to be just lying down in pain for 3 days. my back is slowly getting better now but i still have painful twinges moving sitting or lying certain ways, annoying more than anything, as I have a pretty high pain threshold.
anyway Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast is very much a resort holiday town, the reason for being there was for D to dive the ex-HMAS Brisbane wreck, to make up for the lack of diving on Moreton is. I not one to get wet, just tagged along for a look :]
Anyway thanks for my sweetie for taking me with him, and it was nice to see somewhere else of our huge island even though i was not quite 100% or up for any major adventuring myself.
on the flight back on take off i got a very surprising loud squelch on my left as ear finally seemed to equalise as i was going up again, but landing again last night meant it's stayed blocked again, but less pain. I keep waiting for it to pop or something now.
D's Canon IXUS camera has died for no good reason while away. which really sucks as we have the diving case for it and he couldnt take pics of fishies and stuff :\ but I did take my camera as well for plently of snapshots. And we'll get the images from his card and I'll go through them and mine some time soon.
(yes I still have Tassie pics to go through, but D reckons no one wants to see them anyway [Humph!] and i should just put up this weekends pics up first :) |

| Mooloolaba |
[Dec. 7th, 2009|10:36 pm] |
We're back.
Took a long weekend to go diving. In Mooloolaba. On the wreck of the ex-HMAS Brisbane.
It was amazing. The Brisbane sits upright on the sea bed. They cut access holes all through the structure so even beginner divers like myself can dive inside her. We swam through corridors, the old galley, even the computer control room. Saw lots of octopuses, three scorpion fish, and manages to scrape my hands up on all the barnacles. (I feel very macho now - I have dive injuries. I also now have a pair of gloves.)
My camera fritzed itself, so there aren't many photos. Instead, feel free to picture me wrestling an enormous octopus through vast, drowned engine rooms of war. |

| Star wars at scienceworks |
[Dec. 2nd, 2009|12:22 pm] |
yes still catching up on photos from a few weeks back :P we managed to catch the Starwars exhibition in its final (extended) week, at the Scienceworks museum in Spotswood. i didnt know we would be able to takes snaps, and it is tricky when its dark and things are behind glass, but still managed to geek out a bit trying to shoot the models on display.
 ( more geekyness ahead ) |

| St Kilda Pier |
[Nov. 29th, 2009|03:26 pm] |
more photos :] when david was still on holiday we went to St kilda pier on night to check out the penguins. didn't get any decent shots of those cute critters though (no flash photography allowed and it was a bit dark to take any decent shots of them waddling around :)
I did get a few shots of the pier and lovely sunset though, and I also tried a few more long exposure shots, though it was tricky with lots of people around and a bit of wind meant my tripod wasn't completely stable
 ( more snaps under here ) |
